About This Study

If you currently smoke cigarettes, you might be able to join one of our research studies. We have studies for people interested in quitting and for people who do not currently wish to quit. It’s free to join, and you may be paid for your time and local travel.

This study looks at changes in brain activity in smokers before, during, and after they quit smoking. During a supported quit attempt that includes weekly meetings with a trained cessation counselor, up to 6 pictures of your brain will be made using a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. MRI is a non-invasive method to image the brain without radiation.

All visits will take place at the NIH/NIDA research facility, which is located on the Hopkins Bayview Medical Campus.
